Hello

I am working on music artist's website and he has asked me to make his music downloadable from his site. I have found a code that allows zip files to download however, it only works in Firefox and not in Safari.

In Firefox I get a small window that asks if the user wants to open or save the file which is fine. In Safari, I get a webpage that I have to refresh if I want the zip file to download. I do not want the visitors, who use Safari, when visiting my friend's music site to have to refresh a webpage in order to download the zip file. Is there any other code I need to use? Or a better code I should be using?

The code I am currently using is,

Code:

<a href="folder/filename/zip">Download Now</a>

Thank you.

I was wondering does it all have to be Javascript with an added bonus of HTML, or can it just be HTML? Because I would like it to be simple HTML or CSS

To have a slideshow looping and automatically play you will need javascript, flash, html , css or php or any combination of these. It can't be done with pure html and css.

Here's a list of 100 + slideshow scripts of all the above. Take your pick.

If the pdf file is to be downloaded, compress (zip it with 7Zip) and upload it to where your index.html file is or into another folder where you want to keep such files.

I am not understanding the problem you are having with the WHERE to host the PDF file. It doesn't matter WHERE, as long as it is on your site and in your public or root directory.

There are two ways to do what you want and neither is easy. You can write your own custom scripts and html with php and a database or you can use open source software made for that purpose such as Joomla, Wordpress or Drupal. All three and others use php and mysql databases to save the post and comments for display.

So there is no code that one can just "write" for you to get what you want. My suggestion is google Wordpress, download it and give it a try. You will also need additional software for local testing unless you do all the developing on a live server.

I suggest to use new free PHP IDE Codelobster PHP Edition
It has also special plug-ins for Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, Smarty and JQuery.
