I'm thinking of switching from DH now after frustrations of their downtimes and server performance.
Upon some basic research I've narrowed my options below:
slicehost.com
linode.com
pair.com
liquidweb.com
These are the companies with the least negative reviews I can find on the web.
Thinking of this one: https://www.liquidweb.com/cart/content/vps/VPS/Plan1
Might be going for it. Things I consider the most important is uptime then the ease of management from control panel. What's your experience so far with them?
Thanks! |

Personally, I have never used them. I used CI Host around 1999 or so, horrible service.
Then I used Hostway for a few years - fantastic service. This was before most hosting companies were offering "unlimited bandwidth" and I was mirroring a video. Sometimes my bill was over $1,000 a month. Hostway actually called me three months before they started to offer their unmetered plans and offered to switch to this plan before it was public.
Then I started using my own servers. I was with CalPop for a few years - good support. For medical reasons, I sold the hosting company to TechEvolution and I have a dedicated server with them. I have been happy with their service and support for the past few years.

Hello
We purchased a dedicated server from LiquidWeb.com in the end of July 2006. I’ve promised to give them a review and briefly put: everything has worked fine with the service and there really hasn’t been any major problems with them. In exchange for this review (and having banner link on my site) I’ve received a discount for the server. As with any other review on this, I will give my honest opinion & constructive criticism regarding the service.
While I haven’t been directly dealing with their support my friend (who is managing the server) said that “support has always been very good”. The server has been fast and sites load quickly. I don’t even recall any downtime. There’s always some downtime when dealing with webhosts, but our dedicated server hasn’t experienced any major (nor much even minor) downtimes.
Pretty much the only problems we have faced were with the remote backup: there were some problem with the hardware, but that was sorted. This shows how little issues there has been with them – they’ve taken care things properly.
