Good Day,
I have been using FrontPage 2003 but I am not all that happy with my site. I have heard a lot about DreamWeaver. I am currently evaluating it. I have about 10 days remaining. There are features I like but I do not know if the change would be worth it.
How about those of you who have used both... |

Check out Microsoft Expressions - it is the newer version of Frontpage. I have been using it and I am a lot happier with it. The WYSIWYG editor rights compliant code and is a lot easier to use. You can upgrade as well.

It depends on what you want to do.
If you are creating simple webpages then there is not much point.
If you are developing whole sites, with templates and server-side scripting then it could be beneficial.
Dreamweaver does produce HTML standard coding, which is a plus. |

If you want to make a normal site(simple),html and css.
I love to use photoshop to make the template, slice it and then code it using notepad.I dont want to get lazy by using DW or similar programs.
I recommend the software Programmers Notepad. Its free.
*caution,im talking about simple sites *
well, good luck, there are hundred of softwer but you need a ONE that works for you. |

frontpage is more easy and visual than dream weaver but frontpage create alot of code that don't follow the standards.
For example, im from spain and when i write with tilde in FP i writes as is but in dw it writes in the correct code |

I used FrontPage when I first started out. At the time (about 6 years ago) I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. My websites were simple yet they did the job.
The more advanced my skills and knowledge became I soon realised how bad and time inefficient it was. Then I came across Dreamweaver... well I was taken back at first at how different it was compared to FrontPage. After a day or so exploring it I didn't care how much it cost because quite frankly that's the only drawback of Dreamweaver, the price. Creating HTML/CSS layouts is an absolute breeze with the auto code suggest tool they got. Organising and uploading files is also easy so need for a 3rd party FTP program.
For beginners it's probably not worth the investment and my advice it to stay with FrontPage. |
