Good Day,
I have been using FrontPage 2003 but I am not all that happy with my site. I have heard a lot about DreamWeaver. I am currently evaluating it. I have about 10 days remaining. There are features I like but I do not know if the change would be worth it.
How about those of you who have used both... |

Check out Microsoft Expressions - it is the newer version of Frontpage. I have been using it and I am a lot happier with it. The WYSIWYG editor rights compliant code and is a lot easier to use. You can upgrade as well.

It depends on what you want to do.
If you are creating simple webpages then there is not much point.
If you are developing whole sites, with templates and server-side scripting then it could be beneficial.
Dreamweaver does produce HTML standard coding, which is a plus. |

If you want to make a normal site(simple),html and css.
I love to use photoshop to make the template, slice it and then code it using notepad.I dont want to get lazy by using DW or similar programs.
I recommend the software Programmers Notepad. Its free.
*caution,im talking about simple sites *
well, good luck, there are hundred of softwer but you need a ONE that works for you. |

frontpage is more easy and visual than dream weaver but frontpage create alot of code that don't follow the standards.
For example, im from spain and when i write with tilde in FP i writes as is but in dw it writes in the correct code |

I used FrontPage when I first started out. At the time (about 6 years ago) I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. My websites were simple yet they did the job.
The more advanced my skills and knowledge became I soon realised how bad and time inefficient it was. Then I came across Dreamweaver... well I was taken back at first at how different it was compared to FrontPage. After a day or so exploring it I didn't care how much it cost because quite frankly that's the only drawback of Dreamweaver, the price. Creating HTML/CSS layouts is an absolute breeze with the auto code suggest tool they got. Organising and uploading files is also easy so need for a 3rd party FTP program.
For beginners it's probably not worth the investment and my advice it to stay with FrontPage. |

I also recommended Dream weaver CS3, it’s not much complicated as Dream weaver CS4 and you can make your website easily.
First I also used PhotoShop but when I used Dream weaver CS3 first time I forgot the PhotoShop. |

| I have been using Dreamweaver fro several years and love it. It saves an amazing amount of time. Some good advice--take the time to learn how to use it through their tutorials or one of the excellent howto books rather than stumble on through the help files as you use it. it is way worth the trouble. |

| I'm a web student for about a year now. I have both Web Expressions 2, and MS Visual 2008. I also have been using Dreamweaver at school. I'm not real impressed. To me the layout is too complicated and I don't want to have to fiddle faddle around to get to what I want to do. Visual 2008 is complemtary (to me), as the others. However, Web Expression 2 I favor the most. Also, Photoshop is also over rated. My basic Canon editor does all that photoshop does, and has all that I need. One point I do want to make is that if you buy Dreamweaver it's a real good idea to buy Photoshop with it (maybe even as a bundle). At least that's what all the geeks at school say. Hope that helps. Try not to get caught up in all the bells and whistles. Light. |

| Since this is a three year old post I think the subject is dead. Software is like automobiles, each person has their favorite and the decision of what to get will be based on cost and ease of use. |

Why don't you just try kompozer.net? It's an amazing editor and I just tried it, alot easier than FrontPage and Dreamweaver together. And the best of all, it's free!
Totally recommended for beginners like me and professionals. |
