This code requires access to a CGI folder that allows you to run programs from the remote server. This server would have to be compiled with a newer version of PHP. In addition, you require access to a data base server such as MySQL.
These resources are generally not available from "free" servers.
One possibility would be hosting on your own PC but you require a static IP address or similar.
Read this thread http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/help/viewtopic.php?t=36 on setting up an Apache web server to run a forum like this.
Follow this link to find out more about MySQL http://www.mysql.com/
These are all free, open source programs and servers. |

www.proboards.com
They provide excellont message boards.
To include on your webpage would be more difficult. Other members can help you there. However, if you simply want to have a link to it off your website use this script in your menu bar:
<a href="FORUM URL HERE">TEST TO BE SHOWN IN MENU HERE</a>
Remember to place it with the other menu options.

| I took a peek at the homepage for this service and it looks OK. Can someone post a URL for a working forum hosted by this service? I am curious how much advertizing appears on these "free" forums |

I have several - They are the best forums company. I'll give you the links to some of mine...
http://magicfortson.proboards30.com
Now from www.magicworld.co.nr
http://fortydesigns.proboards23.com
Very little advertising appears. Only one set of them along the top, a link back to proboards, and sometimes a few words, which appear in small letters at the bottom. These have not been ther for some time now.
You can also get ad'free if you want to pay for it.
They are also offering another service:
http://banners.proboards.com/
This allows you to advertise in the advertising area on every forum - at a price.

Among free and open source software, phpBB tops my list. Fairly good product, huge MOD database, and pretty good support.
If you haven't got much time, and want to see what the new phpbb3 can offer, just try it out on this host : free forum
Hope this can help! |

| You must create an idea of what your site will be about, and you need to project that idea through many ways.First think about what you have an interest in, for this topic I will use the example of Baseball. |
